Unhealthy
Lifestyle
Do you
know what type of lifestyle you are living? Do you have any idea how
to distinguish between a healthy and unhealthy lifestyle? An
unhealthy lifestyle is causing large numbers of disease and death.
Lifestyle determines the health of people, and people with an
unhealthy lifestyle may face various health problems; moreover, most
common are high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and many
serious diseases. There are some factors and habits that may cause an
unhealthy lifestyle.
People with lower incomes have an unhealthy lifestyle not because
they don't want live a healthier life,but because they can't afford a
healthy lifestyle. According to Food Research and Action Center, “..
low-income people still are uninsured and lack access to basic health
care even they may face high levels of stress and poor mental health” (FRAC). Without access to basic health care, having economical
difficulties and mental pressure can't be considered as healthy. Due
to a low income, they can not afford health care services and fail to
solve economical problems that lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. A low
income leads people to many physical and mental health problems.
Having health problems can't be a healthy lifestyle, and it is
unreasonable to expect a healthy lifestyle While low income families
are struggling for their basic needs.
Educated people are more likely to know about their health, and they
are conscious about their health; moreover, education helps people to
know what is a healthy lifestyle and how they can acquire it. For
example, “.. there is also a strong connection between education
and health. People who are better educated are less likely to
contract serious diseases and are more likely to recover when they
get sick” (The State of World's Health). Education tells people
what to do for a healthier lifestyle; furthermore, educated people
are more careful and serious about their individual health as well as
their family's health. Educated people are less likely to get sick
due to preventive measures even though when they get sick they know
what to do and how to take care of themselves. Educated people are
able to make choices that are beneficial for their health and help
them to live a better lifestyle, a healthy lifestyle.
Even
though people are educated and have a high income, there is a
possibility that they are living an unhealthy lifestyle; bad habits
may cause an unhealthy lifestyle. Likewise “ ...here are some of
the more common unhealthy lifestyle practices that are current today
such as smoking, getting little sleep, poor eating habits, having too
much stress and drinking too much alcohol...” (KEEPLONG). Often
these habits are common in a developed and a developing world. Even
an educated and wealthy part of a population are practicing these
practices without knowing these are unhealthy lifestyle practices.
For example, smoking and drinking alcohol is the most common in every
part of world; however, people know that smoking and drinking alcohol
are injurious to their health. Without changing these unhealthy
habits, people can't have a healthy lifestyle.
Basically,
while we are talking about major factors causing an unhealthy
lifestyle low income, education and bad habits may stand first in a
row; however, there are other reasons like bad social practices,
society and people and landscape or environment that also may cause
an unhealthy lifestyle. Whereas in the poorest part of the world,
there might be large numbers of people who don't have any solution.
Eradication of these causes may be challenging, but without solving
these problems people can't have a healthy lifestyle. Its important
that individuals take care of their health, and every solution or
every step towards solving these problems starts with an individual.
